Sharing our Past, Building our Future

PODCASTS: Fourteen local residents and six railway staff and visitors have shared with us their stories of what Blair Atholl station means to them.  The audio recordings are now available as a set of free podcasts for you to enjoy and as downloadable booklet.

All made possible with funding from the National Lottery Heritage Fund and the Struan Trust. Thanks to all who play the Lottery – we couldn’t have done it without you!

Our oral history project

‘MIKE’S STATION’ FILM:

The story of one local resident gets special attention, and has been made into a part-animated film called ‘Mike’s Station’. This traces the station’s history from 1943 to 2023.

‘MIKE’S STATION’ BOOK:

A picture book for children has been produced from the film (see picture opposite) and copies can be purchased for £6.99 locally or £9.99 inc P&P by emailing us.

Both the film and the book have been shared with local children at a workshop at Blair Atholl primary school.  Additional background information in the form of a Teachers’ Pack is available here.

THE EXHIBITION:

Our project reached a high point in August 2024 with a free exhibition in Blair Atholl Village Hall, so that everyone could share in what we have done and help us decide what to do next.
